What Happened Yesterday With U-Save Moving

Here is a summary of What I did and Why I did for the moving business

So first off lets go over the stats of the website and its results:

In looking at my Google Analytic and the Wordpress stats I have been noticing a large disparity in the number of visitors coming to the website. And truthfully, until I can get a solid answer to it, I am confused as which stats system to believe.

Google Analytics are as follows:

  • 29 uniques visits. Down from 31 the day before (have to look into that)
  • 7 subscriptions to my RSS feed. Up from 6 yesterday.
  • 3 page read/visit
  • 2 min and 37 sec (2:37) on the site.

Wordpress stats are as follows:

  • 83 hits. Down from 131 the day before. (Google and WP both are down)
  • 3 articles booked marked.

What I am confused about the disparity of the number of visitors coming to the U-Save Moving website. Google claims I only got 29 visitors while Wordpress claims I got 83. I just don’t know which one I am inclined to agree with. For now I am just going to have to monitor both of them. They both agree however, that the stat was down for the day.

Yesterday I placed 6 articles on Craigslist. I hit all the major cities in the mid Michigan area: Kalamazoo, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Flint, Ann Arbor and Detroit. Despite this the daily visitors were down from Tuesday when I did not do any ads.

The reason is that it could be because it Wednesday. Typically this is not a high volume day for visitors. Still going to have to find the cause.

I normally do my Craigslist advertising on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between the hours of noon and 2 pm. I have found in the past that these are the days and times I get the most of amount of traffic to the website. What are your best days? If you don’t know you better be finding out. (If this something that you would like to learn how to do then email me and I’ll train you up.)

I made up a great flyer. I copied off about 10 of them yesterday and got them posted up on various bulletin boards in town. Not usually a great traffic generator but it is exposure. I do occasionally get calls and jobs from flyers and business cards left in apartments. I have pizza delivery guys looking for extra cash do this for me.

Hint: Use delivery Pizza guys etc to hand out flyers and business cards to apartment complexes and homes when they deliver pizza.

I added myself or my business to several backlinking sites and social media sites yesterday. This website and my Google profile also contain the new sites. As I add more of them, you can see them on this site under the “Follow Me” widget and/or on my Google profile page. The more of these that I add the more exposure I will get. Where I can I am linking up my Facebook page and Twitter accounts to those sites as well.

I also spent a good amount of time on Facebook, Twitter (4 accounts), Redgage and a few others. I actually booked one moving job off Twitter yesterday.

When I use these social media sites I am not saying buy here; go there. What I am doing is engaging my followers and friends, or I am just passing great content and advice. I don’t use those mediums to advertise or sell. I just inform and direct to my website. It is my websites’ job to sell my services.

Tidbit: Your website is a tool to inform and sell. If your home page is an “about us” page then your are missing the boat. Your site is there as a tool to SELL not to make friends. Let your Twitter account or your Facebook page do that.

So basically that is what I did in a nut shell for my moving business yesterday. Come back here tomorrow where I explain what I did for today.

Make sure you share this with your friends, especially anyone you know that is running a local business. I have tons of great tips and advices that they could learn from.
